Garry V. Hughes is the founder and Vice -President of Hughes Construction Company, Inc. (HCCI). In 1960, he began building single family residential housing. By 1965, the company expanded into the development and construction of commercial and industrial projects. Over the next six years, HCCI acted as the general contractor on numerous shopping centers, office buildings, convenience stores, retail outlets, and libraries. As the company grew, its biggest asset was the experience and determination of its founder.
In 1971, the company identified multi-family housing as its target market. Mr. Hughes incorporated the company and developed a business plan designed to provide a full range of services to the multi-family housing industry including design, development, construction and management. The company experienced immediate success and has maintained steady growth developing projects in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. Since 1971, HCCI has successfully constructed over 23,000 multi-family housing units with construction costs totaling more than $600,000,000.00.
In 2000, Chris H. Hughes joined The Hughes Companies and currently serves as President of HCCI. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi. He practiced law at McCoy, Wilkins, Stephens, and Tipton from 1994-2000 and represented businesses, corporations, physicians, nursing homes and individuals.
With a combined experience level of over 60 years, Garry and Chris Hughes expanded HCCI into the development and construction of medical facilities. Since that time, HCCI has developed and/or built five nursing homes consisting of approximately 320 nursing home beds. Further, it constructed a $1.8 million Imaging Center for Rush Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi and it purchased, renovated and remodeled three medical office facilities across Mississippi.
